Hubei Releases First Batch of 10 Premium Waterway Tourism Routes
Hubei's culture and tourism department and transport department recently jointly released the first batch of 10 premium waterway tourism routes.
The Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Provincial Department of Transport recently jointly released the first batch of 10 premium waterway tourism routes.
The 10 premium routes are: the 'Radiant River City' Wuhan riverside urban landscape route; the 'Three Gorges of the Yangtze' Two Dams and One Gorge ecological scenic route; the 'Dancing Butterflies on the Clear River' Tujia and Miao folk-custom landscape and ecological route; the 'Eight-Hundred-Li Qingjiang' landscape gallery intangible cultural heritage route; the 'Chu Charm of East Lake' urban green-heart leisure cruise route; the 'Immortal Lake of a Thousand Islands' mountain-and-wilderness wellness and leisure vacation route; the 'Charm of Liangzi Lake' fishing-village revitalization ecological vacation route; the 'Misty Waves of Lushui' Three Kingdoms heritage Chibi cultural route; the 'Weishui Lake and Mountains' forest wellness rural leisure route; and the 'Pearl of the Zhanghe River' ecological waterside red-tourism sightseeing route.
Statistics show that Hubei province currently has 218 high-end, environmentally friendly, new-energy cruise boats in operation, 72 standardized wharves, and more than 31,000 total passenger seats. The selected routes, through innovative new business forms such as night tours, educational study trips, water sports and folk-custom performances, have effectively boosted the incomes of people along the routes. In 2025, the 10 routes received a total of 7.962 million visitors, up more than 15 percent year on year, with total tourism revenue exceeding 210 million yuan. (Cheng Furong)
