MCT Issues the “14th Five-Year” Plan for Building a Strong Tourism Nation
With State Council approval, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued the plan for building a strong tourism nation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, setting a goal of a more complete modern tourism system by 2030 and outlining tasks such as optimizing tourism spatial layout, enriching high-quality supply and unleashing tourism consumption potential.
In July 2026, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued the plan for building a strong tourism nation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The plan aims to significantly improve high-quality tourism development by 2030, further consolidate tourism's role as a pillar industry, and steadily raise the share of tourism and related industries in GDP.
It sets key tasks including optimizing the tourism spatial layout, enriching high-quality tourism supply, unleashing tourism consumption potential, improving tourism public services, and strengthening tourism exchanges and cooperation with other countries and with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
