MCT Issues Travel Tips for the Dragon Boat Festival Holiday, Flood Season and Summer Peak
With China entering the flood season and the Dragon Boat Festival and summer travel peak approaching, the MCT reminds tourists to pay close attention to travel safety.
At present, China has fully entered the flood season, with rising risks of extreme weather and various geological disasters; at the same time, the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and the peak summer tourism season are approaching. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds tourists to pay close attention to travel safety:
1. Pay attention to flood season safety. Closely follow weather conditions at the destination and along the route as well as meteorological and geological disaster warning information, learn in advance about whether scenic areas are open, plan itineraries reasonably and adjust travel arrangements in a timely manner. Do not go to undeveloped, unopened areas that lack safety guarantees, and guard against getting lost, falls, falling into water and drowning.
2. Take protective measures. When traveling in summer, make preparations against heatstroke, lightning and rain. Prepare sunshade and heat-relief items and medicines, and replenish water promptly when sweating heavily. For outdoor activities, avoid the high-temperature noon period as much as possible, take care to prevent insect bites, and pay attention to fire prevention and disaster avoidance.
3. Strengthen risk awareness. Pay attention to the security situation and precautions in outbound travel destinations, and do not travel to high-risk areas. Pay attention to service standards and quality, take care to distinguish the reliability of travel guide information, rationally choose travel agencies and tourism products, and be on guard against “unreasonably low-priced tours.” When driving or riding in motor vehicles, fasten seat belts throughout the journey; when taking sightseeing boats, wear life jackets as required. Strictly abide by fire safety and other safety management regulations of venues. Participate cautiously, according to one's own physical condition, in high-risk activities such as those at height, at high speed, and on water.
4. Travel healthily and civilly. Maintain good personal hygiene habits and pay attention to food hygiene. Comply with laws and regulations and public order and good customs. Follow the visiting and touring instructions of venues. Protect the ecological environment, cherish cultural relics and historic sites, take good care of public facilities, and promote the new trend of civilized tourism.
