Jilin Strives to Build Culture & Tourism as a Pillar Industry
Jilin will integrate ice and snow, natural scenery, ethnic customs, cultural heritage and border resources during the 15th Five-Year period to build culture and tourism into a pillar industry.
On June 2, the Information Office of the Jilin Provincial People's Government held the eighth press conference in the series themed “Getting Off to a Good Start in the 15th Five-Year Plan Period: Promoting the Full Revitalization and High-Quality Development of Jilin.” It was introduced at the meeting that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Jilin will adhere to integrated development as the main line, integrate resources such as ice and snow, natural scenery, ethnic customs, cultural heritage and borderland features, strive to raise the level of tourism development in the Changchun modern metropolitan area, the Greater Changbai Mountain region, areas along the G331 and G334 culture and tourism corridors, and river basins such as the Songhua River, build a whole-area tourism development pattern of “point radiation, belt connection and network coordination,” and accelerate the building of the culture and tourism industry into a pillar industry.
According to the introduction, Jilin will promote the renewal and upgrading of products and enrich high-quality, differentiated culture and tourism supply. It will implement an action to strengthen the foundations of and renew tourist attractions, an action to cultivate distinctive tourism products and a program for better-life leisure and vacationing, focusing on creating high-quality culture and tourism products with Jilin characteristics such as ice and snow tourism, rural tourism, study-tour tourism, health and wellness tourism, border tourism, industrial tourism and red tourism. It will promote culture and tourism to empower economic and social development and create composite, cross-sector new scenarios and new business forms. It will strengthen the allocation of tourism elements at cultural venues such as museums, ancient buildings, ancient villages, archaeological site parks and historical sites, and launch more cultural activities such as tourism performances, intangible cultural heritage displays and folk custom experiences. It will deepen “culture and tourism + all industries” and “all industries + culture and tourism,” promote the deep integration of culture and tourism with agriculture, industry, commerce, sports, forestry and transportation, and cultivate more emerging business forms and composite products. It will promote the optimization and upgrading of services and management and create a more convenient and comfortable tourism environment. It will make sustained efforts to improve tourist satisfaction, further optimize the public service system for inbound tourism and raise the level of facilitation and internationalization of inbound tourism. It will continuously improve tourism catering services, improve the “fast access, slow touring” transportation network, enrich high-quality accommodation supply, advance smart culture and tourism development, and optimize and improve tourism infrastructure such as communications.
