A giant Tang-dynasty seated Maitreya Buddha carved into a cliff, overlooking the confluence of three rivers and part of a mixed World Heritage Site.
Carved into the Lingyun Mountain cliff in the Tang dynasty, the Leshan Giant Buddha stands over 70 metres tall facing the confluence of the Min, Dadu and Qingyi rivers.
Visitors can descend the winding plank path to the Buddha's feet or take a boat for the full view, and combine it with nearby Mount Emei for a classic two-day route.
