Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, is known as the 'Land of Abundance'. With adorable giant pandas, relaxed teahouses and spicy Sichuan cuisine and hotpot, it is a city you will not want to leave.

Giant Panda Base

Pandas are most active in the early morning, so arrive early. The lush bamboo grounds are home to the city's most famous residents.

Old town and alleys

Kuanzhai Alley and Jinli keep the flavor of old Chengdu, while Wuhou Shrine and Du Fu Thatched Cottage carry the history of the Three Kingdoms and the great poet.

Food and surroundings

Hotpot, skewers, rabbit head and more — Chengdu's food is a world of its own. Dujiangyan and Mount Qingcheng are close enough for a day trip.
