A seaside scenic spot in Sanya, famed for its coastal boulders and the “Tianya” (“End of the Sky”) and “Haijiao” (“Corner of the Sea”) inscriptions — one of Hainan's best-known landmarks.
Tianya Haijiao lies on the seafront at the western edge of Sanya, about 300 km from Haikou. Its core is a scattering of huge seaside boulders, most famously those inscribed with “Tianya” and “Haijiao,” making it a classic Hainan landmark.
Set between mountain and sea, the site pairs palms with boulders and beach, and a coastal walkway lets you stroll and take in the views. It carries people's imaginings of distant places and romance, and is worth a half-day to a full-day visit.
