The Li River rises in the mountains of northern Guangxi and flows south through Guilin's urban area to Yangshuo, forming the heart of Guilin's scenery. Karst peak forests stretch along both banks, and the clear water mirrors the hills.
Cruising from Guilin to Yangshuo is the most classic way to see the Li River, passing famous river views such as Nine Horses Mural Hill and the Yellow Cloth Reflection. The scenery is especially lovely in the early morning or after rain, when mist drifts among the peaks.
