Elephant Trunk Hill stands where the Li River and the Peach Blossom River meet in downtown Guilin. Named for its shape, like an elephant reaching its trunk into the river to drink, it has been a landmark of Guilin since ancient times.
At its base is the famous Water Moon Cave, whose opening resembles a full moon floating on the water, echoing the hill's shadow and the river view. Located in the city center with convenient transport, it makes a good first stop in Guilin.
