The Longji Rice Terraces lie in the mountains of Longsheng Autonomous County. Carved over generations by the Zhuang and Yao peoples, they are famed for their vast, layered sweep and are praised as among the finest terraces in the world.
The terraces change with the seasons: in spring the flooded fields mirror the sky, in summer the shoots are verdant, at autumn harvest the slopes turn golden, and in winter they are wrapped in white. Visitors can hike to viewpoints and visit the ethnic villages among the hills to learn about local life and culture.
