Guangdong Hosts Exchange on Tourism Dispute Mediation

Guangdong's culture and tourism department recently held an exchange on tourism dispute mediation and a briefing on the Measures for Handling Tourism Complaints in Yangjiang.

The Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently held in Yangjiang City a province-wide exchange on tourism dispute mediation work and an activity to publicize and implement the Measures for Handling Tourism Complaints.

A relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism said that this year is a critical year for rectifying problems such as the disorderly conduct of tour guides and forced consumption in the tourism industry, and that it is necessary to implement fast acceptance and fast handling of tourism complaints, simplify procedures, promote the moving forward of the threshold, timely intervention, and on-the-spot resolution, effectively soothe tourists' emotions, efficiently respond to tourists' reasonable demands, and promote the diversified resolution of tourism disputes; strengthen the linkage between complaint handling and administrative law enforcement, and, targeting fields and regions where complaints are frequent and prone to occur, carry out full-chain rectification both online and offline. Culture and tourism departments at all levels across the province should place the handling of complaints and reports in an important position, properly resolve tourism disputes, and ensure that every matter receives a response and everything is followed through, making every effort to create a reassuring, secure, and comfortable tourism consumption environment, and providing law enforcement and supervision guarantees for building tourism-friendly cities in all parts of Guangdong.

During the activity, staff of the Comprehensive Law Enforcement and Supervision Bureau of the Cultural Market of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism gave special tutoring lectures on 'Policy Interpretation and Handling Practices of the Measures for Handling Tourism Complaints'; the trainees conducted exchanges around themes such as 'Diversified Resolution to Stop Disputes' and carried out on-site research; and relevant experts from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Justice provided on-site guidance and answered questions.

The trainees all said that this exchange and publicity activity was closely focused on key and difficult points, with rich and practical content, and that they would next transform what they had learned and understood into practical action, effectively enhancing their ability to resolve tourism disputes and their service level, and striving to improve the quality and efficiency of tourism complaint handling work.
