Lijiang Old Town, also known as Dayan Ancient Town, is a historic city of the Naxi people, famed for its waterways threading through the streets, its simple old dwellings and its free-form layout. It is listed as a World Cultural Heritage site.
Sifang Square in the center is a traditional market and gathering place, and the Mu Mansion was once the residence and office of the local chieftains. Inns, shops and teahouses line the lanes; by day you can sip tea and wander, and at night lights and songs fill the streets — a place suited to leisurely exploration.
