Shuhe Ancient Town was an important stop on the Tea Horse Road. Quieter than Lijiang Old Town, with streams running through the village and old houses scattered about, it is well suited to relaxed strolling and slow living.
Shuhe Ancient Town lies north of Lijiang Old Town. Once an important stop on the Tea Horse Road and a Naxi settlement, it has a rich history and a simple, natural layout.
Streams murmur through the town, with stone bridges echoing the old houses. Its lanes are quieter than those of Lijiang Old Town and visitors are fewer, making it ideal for unhurried strolling, tea-drinking and idle hours, as well as for experiencing Naxi dwellings and Tea Horse Road culture.
