Jade Dragon Snow Mountain lies north of the Lijiang city area and is one of the lower-latitude areas of modern maritime glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere. Its main peak is snow-capped year-round and stands majestically, revered in Naxi legend as a sacred mountain.
Within the scenic area, a large cable car reaches a higher viewing zone overlooking the glaciers and ranges; at the foot are highland lakes and meadows such as Blue Moon Valley and Ganhaizi. Because of the high altitude, visitors should keep warm, pace their activity and guard against altitude sickness.
